(一)规定: 发球开始时,球自然地置于不持拍手的手掌上,手掌张开,保持静止。 随后发球员须将球几乎垂直地向上抛弃,不得使球旋转并使球在不离开持拍手的手掌之后上升不少于16厘米,球下降到被击出前不能碰到任何物体。 当球从抛起的最高点下降时,发球员方可击球,使球首先触及本方台区,然后直接触及接发球员台区。在双打中,球应先后触及发球员和接发球员的右半区。 从发球开始,到球被击出,球要始终在比赛台面的水平面以上和发球员的端线以外;而且从接发球方看,球不能被发球员或其双打同伴的身体或他(她)们所穿戴(带)的任何物品挡住。 球一旦被抛起,发球员的不持拍手及其手臂应立即从球和球网之间的空间移开。球和球网之间的空间由球和球网及其向上的无限延伸来界定。 运动员因身体伤病原因而不能严格遵守合法发球的某些规定时,可由裁判员做出决定免于执行。
