国外的bec考生以商务白领为主,其出发点是因在实际工作中感觉到商务知识的缺乏、商务礼仪的匮乏、商务用词的不当、商务理解的歧义与误区等,所以想以此提高商务能力。而中国的考生却恰恰与之相反:中国的考生60%为在校学生,其考试目的是为了能够找到更好的工作。
bec官方人员表示:bec作为严谨的考试,很多题目是需要工作经验的,单一的应试技巧不足以解决所有的问题。许多考生由于缺乏工作经验,答卷时会有很多的困惑,其本质是对于bec这门课程没有充分的理解难。 
bec考试由写作、听力、阅读、口试四个部分组成,只有A、B、C三类为有效成绩。如果有两个部分为D,那么总体成绩就是D,即为无效成绩。剑桥大学考试部授权的中国培训官陈雪翎指出:中国学生写作、听力、阅读、口试的成绩往往不在同一个标准上。
 
经权威机构调查:对于中国考生而言,听力和口试要拿到高分不容易。写作和阅读也不同于国内的应试考试:写作不再有模板,阅读不能再依靠划关键词。商业背景知识和实际操作能力在bec考试中扮演着非常重要的角色bec是一门“终身受用”的培训。。这是剑桥组委会举办bec考试的初衷。
